Hard work has always been at the core of our family. We were raised with the belief that kindness matters, that caring for others is a responsibility, and that we will always be blessed through our work. We were taught that we can accomplish anything because we are Edwards — strong, determined, and rooted in purpose.
The matriarch of our family was Georgia Munn, a remarkable woman and leader by every account. She moved to Minnesota, purchased a home in the historic Rondo neighborhood, and became the first Black woman to work at the Ford Plant in St. Paul. She later retired from Burlington Northern Railroad, leaving behind a legacy of perseverance, courage, and excellence. Georgia was also a devoted leader in her church and community, raising four children: James, Charles, Alethea, and Albert.
Jamie is the daughter of James, and Tyler is the grandson of Charles. Our roots are tied to hardworking men and women who always put family and community first.
The Comeback Academy is more than a mission, it is a legacy. It is something we hope honors Georgia and James, who both passed away in 2017, and something our entire family can be proud of. We want this work to reflect where we come from, what we believe in, and the love and strength that has been passed down through generations.
